Dalung: Tinubu Will Be Defeated in 2027, Even if Seyi Chairs INEC

Former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government will lose the 2027 elections—regardless of who oversees the electoral process.

Dalung made this statement in a recent interview on New Central TV.

He accused the administration of deepening poverty and hardship, saying it had “weaponized poverty, hunger and hardship, and has popularised corruption, impunity and injustice.”

“Even if Seyi Becomes INEC Chairman…”

Dalung said Nigerians must rise to confront the current administration, which he described as waging “war against the Nigerian people.”

He warned that “even if the 36 state governors defect to the APC and he appoints his son, Seyi Tinubu, as the chairman of INEC,” Tinubu would still be rejected at the polls.

“Maybe he will appoint his wife the Chief Justice of Nigeria and INEC will be the last institution to decamp—he will be defeated in 2027,” he added.

Dalung called for a broad political realignment ahead of 2027.

He urged opposition figures to rally under the new coalition forming around the African Democratic Congress (ADC), calling it “the only option we have now.”

ADC-Led Coalition Gathers Momentum

The movement, which is gaining steam, includes ex-governors, former lawmakers, and ministers. The aim is to build a credible challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dalung insisted that the electorate would reject the ruling party if a united opposition emerged.

“Nigerians should buckle up for 2027 because the battle line has been drawn,” he said.
