Anambra Commission Ultramodern Market and Park, Give Free Shops

Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has officially opened the Solution Ultra Modern Market and Park in Ekwulobia, describing it as a milestone in his vision for urban regeneration.

Addressing a cheering crowd at the event, Soludo said, “Big welcome to all of you. What we are commissioning today is consistent with the APGA mantra of leave no one behind.”

The new development is part of a broader transformation drive across the state. It includes a vibrant modern market and a fully equipped park with solar-powered lights, canteen services, and clean water facilities.

Soludo said the market especially benefits those affected by the ongoing flyover construction in Ekwulobia.

“This new marketplace is notably the third built by the state government to cater to specific needs,” he said.

Urban Regeneration with a Human Touch

Governor Soludo explained that the Solution Park and Market were conceived not just as buildings, but as a means of restoring dignity and beauty to urban life.

“We are doing a fundamental urban regeneration,” he stated.

The park includes large parking areas and a space for leisure activities.

Soludo added that the market design was intentional, serving as a model for what public spaces should look like in modern Anambra.

“We are using this place as a model for what a modern market should look like,” he said, stressing the need for people to “trade and shop in pleasure.”

The bus terminal attached to the project was described by the Commissioner for Transportation, Barrister Patricia Igwebuike, as a legacy project. It aims to ease congestion and organize public transport in the town.

Free Stalls and a Vision for a Better Anambra

Governor Soludo affirmed that the shops were being allocated to traders at no cost.

“They have profiled those who will get shops here, free of cost to the beneficiaries,” he revealed.

He also reiterated his vision to make Anambra a modern economic hub, stating, “If we are aspiring to become like Dubai or Taiwan, we must lay a solid foundation.”

Soludo referenced other people-focused policies already in motion—such as free education, antenatal care, and delivery services for mothers.

“Our people must enjoy minimum pleasure,” he said, describing the need for comfort and modern facilities as a public right.

The Mayor of Aguata, Dr. Chibueze Offorbike, and other stakeholders including tricycle and bus drivers, praised the initiative, saying it had turned an abandoned bush into a functional urban space.
