Carlo Ancelotti Appointed Brazil Head Coach, Set to Begin May 26

Carlo Ancelotti has been officially named the new head coach of Brazil’s national football team. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed the appointment on Monday.

The Italian manager will take charge after leaving Real Madrid at the end of the Spanish domestic season.

Ancelotti, 65, will become the first foreign manager to lead Brazil’s men’s national team. He will oversee the five-time World Cup champions as they prepare for their upcoming qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay in June.

CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues praised Ancelotti’s arrival. “Bringing Carlo Ancelotti to lead Brazil is more than a strategic move,” Rodrigues said. “It’s a statement to the world that we are determined to regain the top spot on the podium.”

Ancelotti’s Legendary Career

Ancelotti is widely regarded as one of football’s greatest managers. He has won five Champions League titles—three with Real Madrid and two with AC Milan. His domestic success includes league titles with Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Milan, and Real Madrid.

His appointment follows Brazil’s managerial instability, with Dorival Junior dismissed in March after 14 months in charge. Ancelotti will lead Brazil on an initial one-year deal until the end of the 2026 World Cup.

Ancelotti’s departure leaves Real Madrid searching for a replacement. Xabi Alonso, currently managing Bayer Leverkusen, is considered a top candidate to take over at the Bernabéu.
