President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will visit Anambra State on Thursday, May 8, 2025. Governor Charles Soludo made the announcement during the Workers’ Day celebration in Awka on Thursday, May 1.
The event was held at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, where thousands of workers gathered to mark the annual occasion.
Governor Soludo told the crowd, “President Tinubu will be with us in Anambra next week to commission major projects.”
He said the visit is a clear sign that Anambra is working more closely with the federal government. “This is a proof that my administration is forging a partnership that works,” he said.
He called on workers and residents to give the President a warm reception. “Let’s welcome him with joy and pride,” he said.
While he didn’t list the specific projects Tinubu will commission, Soludo noted that they cut across multiple sectors. They reflect his administration’s efforts over the past three years, especially in road construction, digital education, and healthcare access.
Soludo has faced pressure to deliver more infrastructure, especially in rural areas. This visit may help his administration show progress.
Security Talks and Project Commissioning in Katsina
Before coming to Anambra, President Tinubu will head to Katsina State for a two-day visit starting Friday, May 2.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, confirmed the itinerary in a press statement. He said the visit will focus on security and development.
Tinubu is expected to meet top security officers and traditional leaders. The goal is to review the security challenges in the northwest, including banditry and kidnapping, which have deeply affected rural communities.
During the visit, Tinubu will also commission two major projects: the Katsina Agricultural Mechanized Centre and a newly built 24-kilometre dual carriageway.
Governor Dikko Umar Radda, who is hosting the President, completed both projects within his first two years in office. The agricultural centre is meant to help boost food production and create jobs for young people in the state.
Aside from his official duties, President Tinubu will attend the wedding of Governor Radda’s daughter in Katsina before returning to Abuja.
