Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will remain in power until 2031.

Wike made the statement during a media briefing in Abuja on Friday. He also revealed that Tinubu nearly lost the 2023 presidential election due to policies introduced by the previous All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

Wike described the hurdles Tinubu faced during the election.

“Whether APC liked it or not, it was very turbulent for Tinubu to have scaled through that election,” Wike said.

He pointed to the fuel crisis and naira redesign as major obstacles.

“No party in government would at that time bring such a policy when you know you are running an election, but everything was done and he survived it,” he added.

Wike believes Tinubu’s survival is proof of divine favor and political skill.

“That’s how you will know that there are people that, first of all, God is on their side, they also know this game and you must give it to them,” he stated.

Presidency Should Stay in the South

Wike reiterated his support for Tinubu and argued that the South should retain the presidency until 2031.

“I have said it in 2023 and I’m saying it again that until 2031, when the position should go to the North, there is nothing anybody will say to me now,” he declared.

He emphasized the importance of harmonious coexistence between regions.

“It’s not anti-party, it’s harmonious living together. You can’t tell me that it’s your own prerogative to be producing president; let’s all live,” Wike said.

Warning to PDP

Wike also addressed the internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He warned the party to resolve its issues or risk losing his support in the upcoming FCT Area Council elections.

“If PDP does not put their house in order, I’m not going to support them in the area councils election,” he said.

He criticized the party’s current direction.

“This crisis will consume this party until the right thing is being done,” Wike warned.

Despite his criticisms, Wike acknowledged his role in supporting PDP governors, including Bayelsa’s governor.

“Like the governor of Bayelsa, I played a fundamental role, he can’t deny it,” he added.
