More than 211,000 candidates took the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Mock on Thursday at designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) conducted the exercise to prepare for the main UTME.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, while monitoring the exercise in Bwari, Abuja, confirmed that candidates would receive their results quickly.

“They will have the results tomorrow. The results will be ready. Those who finished, we are working now on their results,” Oloyede stated.

JAMB plans to compare outcomes from different test batches to ensure smooth operations before the main examination begins on April 25.

The mock exam serves as a trial run to test new strategies and technologies before the full-scale UTME.

“The word is mock, and we want to say so far so good. What we want to do is to try some things. As students are getting wiser, we are also getting better,” Oloyede explained.

JAMB Warns Against Exam Fraud

Oloyede expressed concerns about fraudulent websites deceiving candidates into believing they can cheat. He revealed that JAMB created a decoy website, catching about 180 students attempting to obtain leaked questions.

“We need to let students know that the best way to pass UTME is to study,” he emphasized.

He warned that candidates involved in fraud will face strict penalties, including the cancellation of their results.

JAMB urged candidates to avoid rogue websites and individuals offering fake UTME assistance.

“Some of them are paying ₦30,000 for something that will never work. And when I look at those who have paid, I smile,” Oloyede remarked.

The 2025 UTME officially kicks off on April 25 at approved CBT centres across the country. Candidates are encouraged to prepare thoroughly and avoid shortcuts.
