Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has put an end to speculation about his future by signing a fresh two-year contract with the Premier League leaders.

The 32-year-old Egyptian star has been a defining figure at Anfield since arriving from Roma in 2017. With 243 goals in 394 appearances, Salah has cemented his place as Liverpool’s third-highest goalscorer in club history.

Speaking after his contract renewal, Salah expressed his excitement about continuing with the Reds.

“Of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies. It’s great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10,” Salah said.

Boost for Liverpool’s Title Chase

Salah’s contract extension comes as Liverpool closes in on a record-equalling 20th English top-flight title, enjoying an 11-point lead with seven games remaining in Arne Slot’s first season as manager.

So far this season, Salah has netted 27 goals and provided 17 assists, playing a vital role in Liverpool’s push for silverware.

Manager Arne Slot hailed Salah’s importance.

“He has shown at this club for so many years in a row how much of a value he is for the club and the team. As like all our fans and his team-mates, we are very happy that he has extended for two more years. Hopefully, he can show on Sunday again (against West Ham) how important he has been for us all season,” Slot stated.

Challenges and Uncertainty at Anfield

Despite Liverpool’s dominance in the league, the club has faced turbulence in recent months.

Liverpool crashed out of the Champions League after a defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, lost the League Cup final to Newcastle, and saw its long unbeaten Premier League run end against Fulham.

Salah’s personal form has dipped, with just one goal in his last seven games—a penalty against already-relegated Southampton.

Meanwhile, Liverpool faces uncertainty over other key players. Captain Virgil van Dijk and full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold are both nearing the end of their contracts. While Van Dijk hinted that negotiations were progressing, Alexander-Arnold has reportedly attracted interest from Real Madrid.

Salah had previously suggested he was uncertain about his Anfield future, claiming he was “probably more out than in” due to slow contract talks.

However, his new deal is a major boost for Liverpool, ensuring one of its most iconic players remains as the club continues its title charge.
