Business mogul and politician Valentine Ozigbo has called on APC leaders to make the right choice in Anambra’s 2025 governorship race. He asked party stakeholders to unite behind a candidate capable of defeating the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Ozigbo made this appeal during a town hall meeting in Awka on March 29, 2025. The event drew party members, grassroots mobilizers, and youth leaders from Anambra Central Senatorial District. He previously held similar meetings in Anambra South and North.
Addressing supporters, Ozigbo explained why APC must field a strong candidate. He stressed the need to align Anambra with the ruling party at the federal level to accelerate development.
“APC taking over Anambra is a win-win for everybody,” he said. “We will have better access to security, infrastructure, and human capital development.”
Ozigbo, who recently joined APC, clarified that his decision wasn’t for personal gain but to secure a stronger platform to challenge the current government.
“I did not leave Labour Party to find comfort—I left because APC is the only platform that can rescue Anambra from bad governance,” he said.
Selfless Leadership is Key
The former Transcorp Plc CEO shared lessons from his upbringing, emphasizing that leadership is about service, not privilege.
“My parents taught me that leadership is about what you give, not what you gain,” he said. “I stand here not for power, but to serve Ndi Anambra.”
He claimed that opinion polls show dissatisfaction with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s leadership.
“If the election were today, Soludo would lose resoundingly,” he said. “The people have spoken, and they want me to replace him.”
Ozigbo laid out his vision for Anambra, promising thriving markets, better roads, job opportunities, and improved security.
“My vision for Anambra is clear. We need a state where businesses succeed, roads work, and no mother goes to bed worried about her children’s safety.”
He urged APC leaders to back his candidacy, emphasizing his experience, strategy, and commitment to transforming the state.
“I ask you to support me not just because I am in APC, but because I have a plan and the ability to make Anambra work again,” he said.
APC Leaders In Attendance
The event featured several top APC leaders, including:
- Chief Mrs. Callista Nwachukwu (APC State Treasurer)
- Mrs. Rita Echedom (APC Deputy State Woman Leader)
- Hon. Ekene Okafor (APC State Welfare Officer)
- Several local government and ward executives
Notable figures from Ozigbo’s campaign also attended, such as Chief Chidi Ogbaji, Chairman of the VCO Advisory Council, and Hon. Justin Kingland, Convener of Anambra Needs Val Ozigbo.
Ozigbo’s engagement with party leaders marks an important step in his bid to secure the APC ticket for the November 2025 election.
