Kemi Badenoch, the Nigerian-born leader of the UK Conservative Party, stands by her views on Nigeria despite criticism. Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima called her comments disrespectful.
Badenoch, who was raised mainly in Nigeria, often reflects on her challenging childhood in a corrupt country. “I grew up in Nigeria and saw firsthand what happens when politicians are in it for themselves,” shesaid.
Mrs Badenoch went on to describe how politicians misuse public funds and create a toxic political environment.
“I saw what socialism did to millions and I saw poverty and broken dreams. I came to Britain to make my way in a country where hard work and honest endeavour can take you anywhere,” she continued.

In response to her remarks, Shettima criticized her during a speech. He compared her to Rishi Sunak, the former Prime Minister of Indian origin, saying Sunak never spoke negatively about India. He suggested Badenoch change her first name if she wanted to avoid associating with Nigeria.
Badenoch’s spokesman replied that she would not apologize for her statements and was not interested in “doing PR for Nigeria.” He emphasized, “She tells the truth. She tells it like it is. She’s not going to couch her words.”
In reply, former Nigerian Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has an angry retort for Badenoch via an X post:
“No you are not & neither do we need or want you to. You are however doing PR for the House Ni*gers Association & the racist, fascist scum that constitutes the far right wing of your adopted country. Do us a favour by shutting your foul mouth, dropping ‘Kemi’ as your name & changing it to ‘Aunty Jemimah’ instead.“
Badenoch is perhaps heading to 10 Down Street soon. She’s constantly challenging Keir Starmer in Parliament, accusing the ruling Labour Party of weakness and poor economic management.
If the Conservatives win the next election, the Nigerian-born she could make history as the first woman of colour to lead His Majesty’s government.

What did they expect that she was going to lie and cover their nakedness after they (the leaders and judiciary) have disgraced this nation? The debacle during the elections, the fuel subsidy, famine and hunger, etc?
What has the country done for her other than she was born here or have Nigerian parents? Many Nigerians have gained from other countries than Nigeria and truth be told, they should be loyal to those countries.
Unfortunately, that is the truth.
