Unidentified gunmen, suspected to be bandits, have abducted two nurses and an unspecified number of patients from the Primary Healthcare Centre in Kuyallo, located in the eastern part of Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State.
The armed group, reportedly targeting the nearby Government Day Secondary School around 9:00 am on Monday, found the school deserted and then turned their attention to the healthcare center.
According to Musa Alhassan, a local vigilante leader, the gunmen had planned to kidnap students but, upon discovering the empty school, stormed the health facility and abducted two female nurses along with several patients. The exact number of those taken remains unclear, leaving the community in shock and fear.
“The bandits came to the school asking for students, but when they found no one, they moved to the healthcare center and started kidnapping people,” Alhassan said.
An eyewitness added that the attackers, armed with guns and machetes, violently dragged people out of the hospital.
This attack follows a similar incident last Friday when bandits targeted another community in Kaduna State. As of now, there has been no official statement from the state government regarding this latest abduction.
