Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents attacked Mafa village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe, looting and setting fire to shops and houses. The Yobe State Police Command Spokesman, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident in Damaturu on Monday.
The attack occurred around 4 p.m. on Sunday, with the assailants arriving on over 50 motorcycles armed with rifles and RPGs. While the exact number of casualties is still unknown, residents Babagana Goni and Bako Ibrahim reported the attack to the Tarmuwa Divisional Police Station.
The terrorists also left behind fliers with Arabic inscriptions.
Just days earlier, on Friday, terrorists attacked a private school in nearby Geidam, killing three students and injuring one.
