Ademola Lookman Beat Osimhen, Others, And Named “Best African International Footballer”

Ademola Lookman, a forward for the Super Eagles, has won the Ghana Football Awards’ “Best African International Footballer” title.

Lookman received recognition for both his Serie A team, Atalanta, and his outstanding performance for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

With three goals in seven games, the 27-year-old helped the Super Eagles place second in the league.

Lookman’s versatility was evident in his contribution to Atalanta’s UEFA Europa League triumph this year, a testament to his superlative skills in the forward line of play.

In the crucial final match against Bayer Leverkusen, Lookman’s performance was exceptional, scoring a hat-trick in La Dea’s 3-0 victory.

For Gian Piero Gasperini’s team last season, he tallied 17 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

The former Leicester City player took home the honor ahead of Burkinabe sensation Edmund Tapsoba and his international colleague Victor Osimhen.

Ademola Olajade Alade Aylola Lookman was born on 20 October 1997 in Wandsworth, Greater London, to parents of Nigerian descent. He played for England until 2022 when he opted to play for Nigeria. At various times, he played in the English Premier League with Everton and Leicester and now in Serie A for Italian championship winner Atalanta.
