Israel Forces Strike Targets In Lebanon In Response To Attacks From Hezbollah As Israel-Palestinian War Escalates

Israel jet fighters on Sunday struck targets in southern Lebanon after Iran-backed Hezbollah fired anti tank missiles into a village Dovev, just 800 meters from the border with Israel.

Israeli authorities say “a number of civilians were wounded” including workers of Israel Electric Corporation who were in the vicinity to repair power lines, but Hezbollah say the workers were targeted because they were installing “eavesdropping and spying devices” in the village.

The Israeli government also said another 15 rockets were fired from Lebanon on Sunday into northern Israel hitting Haifa, Nahariya and Shlomi. Four were intercepted by missile defense system, but significant damage was accomplished by the rest.

The Lebanese branch of Qassam Brigades claimed responsibility. It said the attack was revenge for  Israeli’s “massacres and aggression” in Gaza. Israeli medics said at least 10 people were injured.

Israel Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu is threatening full scale war on Lebanon in response, vowing Israel has a right to defend herself anyway they wish to. ”We fight wherever we must: Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and the Red Sea. I warned Hezbollah, don’t enter the war, it would be your worst mistake. All Hamas operatives must die, and we are going to continue full force.

Since the October 7 Hamas attack and the Israeli offensive that followed, at least 11,000 people have been killed in the conflict with about 75% being women and children and another 1.7million displaced.

These developments threaten escalation of the war and the potential of drawing Lebanon into the conflict, and the dangers of a region-wide conflagration continues to loom.
