Tanzania And Nigeria Play 1-1 Draw In First Leg of FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Africa Qualifiers

Nigeria’s Falconets was forced by Tanzania to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the third round of the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers played in Der Salem on Sunday.

Chioma Olise scored the opening and only goal for the Falconets in the 60th minute of the game but Tanzania quickly equalized in the 71st when Asnath Ubamba plunged the ball past Chiamaka Nnaedozie in the goalpost for Nigeria.

The return match is slated for next week Sunday 19 November at the Moshood Abiola stadium, Abuja.

Nigeria got an easy ride to the third round after Mauritius withdrew just before their first leg with the Falconets.

The 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will be held in Colombia. Africa will be represented by four countries.

In the last U-20 Women’s World Cup played in 2022, the Falconets were edged out by Netherlands 2-0 in the quarter finals.
