The 45 new minister-designates appointed by president Bola Tinubu are to be sworn-in on Monday 21 August 2023 at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa, Abuja at 10.00am.
A statement from the secretary to the federation directs all minister-designates to be seated at 9.00am and allowed only three accompanying guests per minister.
On Thursday the presidential office released list of portfolios to the 45 of 48 persons cleared by the Nigerian Senate a week earlier for ministerial appointments.
The ministerial size, the appointees and portfolio assignments have not been without controversy.
President Tinubu increased the the already bloated number of ministries of his predecessor President Buhari from 44 to 48 rather than shrinking it. Analysts think he is being compelled to accommodate vested political interests.
But Tinubu appears to be towing the predecessor’s line of keeping to himself the juicy ministry of petroleum resources – the main foreign exchange earner for the country.
Here are some of the minister-designates and the ministries assigned to them.

- Marine and Blue Economy
- Health and Social Welfare
- Tourism
- Gas Resources
- Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation
- Aviation and Aerospace Development
- Art, Culture and Creative Economy
- Steel Development
- Youth and Development
