Kebbi State has gained global attention after one of its indigenes, Bello Muhammad, earned a Guinness World Records certificate for riding the tallest bicycle unsupported.
The bicycle measures 2.9 metres (9 feet 5 inches) in height.
The record was achieved in Kebbi State on September 22, 2026.
The certificate was presented to the state government on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ultra-Modern Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi.

A Self-Made Feat
Alhaji Abubakar Kalgo, Patron of the Kebbi Equity Cyclist Association, presented the certificate to the state government, represented by the Head of Service, Malami Shekare.
Kalgo said Bello Muhammad personally fabricated the towering bicycle. He also demonstrated the skill required to ride it without assistance, including mounting and dismounting independently.

“This is a landmark achievement for Kebbi State, demonstrating the creativity, determination, technical ingenuity and exceptional abilities of its young people,” Kalgo said.
He expressed delight that the accomplishment had brought Kebbi State into the global spotlight.
Government Rewards Cyclist With ₦1 Million
Receiving the certificate on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris, the Head of Service, Malami Shekare, congratulated Bello Muhammad on the feat.
Shekare donated ₦1 million to the cyclist in recognition of his accomplishment.
He said the achievement came at a time when the state government is intensifying efforts to promote youth development and sporting excellence.
Shekare observed that Kebbi youths had continued to distinguish themselves in various sports, including football and handball.
“Individual talent and innovation can bring honour to their communities and the state at large,” he said.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK, also commended the cyclist.
He said the international recognition demonstrated the capacity of Kebbi indigenes to excel beyond conventional boundaries.
“The feat underscores the importance of providing an enabling environment in which young people can develop their abilities,” Ahmed-BK said.
Alhaji Saidu Buhari Warrah, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, recalled that Bello Muhammad had previously distinguished himself at the Argungu International Fishing Festival, where he emerged as the winner among 507 contestants.
