POEM: “Pray”

In the Bible, prayers were strong.
In the ancient days of old,
Bible stories, let’s unfold.
Abraham prayed for a son, Issac came.
A blessing began.
Hannah prayed for a child so dear,
Answered prayer came,
Samuel loud and clear.

Esther prayed for her people’s fate,
They were saved from a wicked state.
Noah prayed for rain to cease,
The flood subsided,
A sign of peace.
Joseph prayed in a cell,
God’s power did not cease.

Daniel prayed three times a day,
God’s protection led the way.
Job prayed through trials and pain,
Double restoration and blessings came his way.
Peter, Stephen and Paul prayed,
Answered prayers flew their way.
Elijah prayed,
Three and a half years, no sign of rain.
Faced the prophets of Baal,
Prayed and fire came without fail.

Jonah prayed from the belly of a whale,
Got a second chance,
A miraculous tale!
Joshua prayed for victory’s shout,
Conquered Jericho,
It’s not a folktale!
And in Gethsemane,
Jesus knelt to pray.
Who would have thought,
The Son of God bent down to pray.
He prayed earnestly,
And showed us the way.

When in despair, Pray.
Tired? Pray.
Depressed, Pray.
Angry, Pray.
Sick, Pray.
Prayer opens doors,
Unlocks the way.

Pray for wisdom, Pray for grace.
Pray for strength to run life’s race.
Pray for anything, It’s your hotline.
Remember! It is not a monologue,
It’s conversation with the Almighty.
And it is better to pray,
Than to complain.
