The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has set October 28 as the date its recruitment portal will reopen for candidates who reached the oral interview stage.

The portal will stay open until November 13, so candidates can check their recruitment status.

The Secretary to the Board, retired Major-General Abdulmalik Jibrin, announced this on Thursday after the board’s meeting in Abuja.

He said the board acted because candidates had been waiting for an update on the process.

“The board has considered and agreed, since candidates have been waiting, that by 28th of October, God willing, the portal will open for them to check their status. The portal will open from 28th October to 13th November,” he said.

The board handles recruitment into four federal services.

They are the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), the Federal Fire Service (FFS) and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

Mandatory Drug Test Before Appointment

Candidates must now complete a drug test before they can receive appointment letters.

The test will be carried out by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The NDLEA is the federal agency that enforces Nigeria’s drug laws, and it was set up in 1989. More details are on the agency’s website.

Jibrin said the test follows a federal government directive.

The board works under the Federal Ministry of Interior.

According to him, every employee due for an appointment letter must submit a certificate clearing them of illegal drug use.

Therefore, passing the test is a condition for getting an appointment letter.

“For candidates who have reached so far as the oral interviews, to check their status and select and attend a mandatory drug test with the NDLEA, in keeping with the federal government directive that every employee who has gone to get an appointment letter must submit the document alongside a certificate of clearance,” he said.

Steps For Successful Candidates

Successful candidates will first take a code from the portal.

They will then go to the NDLEA office in their respective states for the test.

After the test, candidates will gather in Abuja to collect their appointment letters.

“So, the portal will open 28th October up to 13th November for people to check their status and then take a code and proceed to their respective state where the NDLEA office is and present themselves for mandatory drug test,” he said.

Candidates who reached the oral interview stage are therefore advised to watch the portal from October 28.
