Okpebholo Aide Bans Davido from Musical Performances in Edo

Davido has been told not to expect to perform in Edo State for the rest of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s tenure, deepening the public spat between the singer and the governor’s camp.

Apostle Kassy Chukwu, the Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media to Governor Okpebholo, made the remark in a video shared on Peniel TV International Benin City, Nigeria, on Thursday.

The confrontation began after Davido refused to apologise for comments he made about Okpebholo following the governor’s criticism of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle, during the campaign period for the August 15 governorship election.

Davido had earlier posted what appeared to be Okpebholo’s WAEC result on his Instagram Story. He later defended the post in an interview and said he had no reason to apologise.

Chukwu reacted by saying Davido had been banned from performing in Edo State for the remainder of the governor’s administration.

“You have been banned from coming to Edo State to perform. We don’t want to see you in Edo again,” he said.

He accused the singer of insulting the governor and his family, adding that the state would no longer welcome him for the rest of Okpebholo’s time in office.

A Warning To The Singer

Chukwu also said some Edo youths were angry over Davido’s remarks and could react badly if the singer returned to the state.

“Edo youths are angry. They said if they catch you again, nobody should bring Davido to come and perform in any place again in Edo State,” he said.

He further criticised Davido’s social media post about Okpebholo’s academic record, describing the document as allegedly altered. He warned the singer not to repeat such a post.

The dispute gained attention after Okpebholo criticised Adeleke’s dancing style and questioned his conduct as governor. Davido responded by sharing the alleged WAEC result and later said he would not apologise.

The singer argued that he only showed the educational record of a governor who travelled to Osun State to campaign against his uncle.

Davido also accused Okpebholo of leaving Edo State to take part in the Osun election and questioned his mandate as governor.

The latest comments from the governor’s aide have since spread online, with the video drawing fresh reactions as the feud continues.

The clash has now crossed from politics into entertainment circles, with supporters on both sides trading words while the public watches for the next response.
