Nigerian rapper and actor, Folarin Falana, popularly known as ‘Falz’, says he has never shown support for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, or any other politician.
Speaking during an interview on ‘Prime Time’ on Arise Television, Falz explained that his focus has always been on encouraging Nigerians, particularly young people, to participate in the electoral process. According to him, urging citizens to vote should not be mistaken for supporting any political candidate.
He stressed that he has consistently advocated for free, fair, and credible elections while choosing to remain independent of partisan politics.
Falz noted that he has avoided openly backing politicians because Nigerian’s political land scape ha continued to witness the recycling of familiar faces, making it difficult for many citizens to place absolute confidence in political leaders.
Just a point of correction. “I never openly supported Peter Obi or any politician or party in 2023 or at any point. I have actively encouraged people to go out and vote”.
“I clamour for a free and fair democratic process. I haven’t stuck out my neck for any politician for obvious reasons”.
“I think it’s very important to strengthen our democracy in this country. We’ve been going in cycles, and it just seems like almost the same crop of people we keep on reshuffling, and at the end of the day, it’s tough to even sit anywhere and vouch for a Nigerian politician in 2026,” he said.
