Former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has dismissed reports that he has defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, saying he remains firmly in the ruling party.
The former Kano State governor said the posters circulating on social media were false and part of a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and confuse APC supporters.
In a statement issued through his former Commissioner for Information and Chief of Staff, Muhammad Garba, Ganduje said he has never considered leaving the APC, the party he once led as national chairman.
He described the defection claims as politically motivated and without any factual or logical basis.
“The claims were part of a deliberate misinformation campaign aimed at misleading the public, creating confusion among APC supporters, and generating unnecessary political speculation.”
Ganduje also said the APC remains Nigeria’s largest political party and continues to enjoy support under President Bola Tinubu.
He said he remains committed to working with the party leadership to support the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Legal Action Threatened
The former APC chief said those behind the posters had been identified and warned that legal action would follow if the materials were not withdrawn and the false claims continued.
He also asked party members, supporters and the general public to ignore the posters, saying they do not reflect his political position or future plans.
The denial comes amid rising political speculation and frequent social media trending videos depicting Mr Ganduje in a meeting with NDC VP candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso and other party bigwigs.
