Ovie Omo-Agege, the former Deputy Senate President, has announced his support for Peter Obi and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 presidential election.
He made the declaration on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show in Abuja, days after joining the NDC from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Peter Obi is my presidential candidate for the 2027, I have endorsed him.”
Omo-Agege said his loyalty now belongs to the NDC and that he will work for the party as he once campaigned for President Bola Tinubu while in the APC.
“Take it to the bank that my loyalty to the party stands.”
Primary Win And Party Business
Omo-Agege also dismissed claims that he lost the NDC senatorial primary for Delta Central held on May 25, 2026.
“If you believe I lost a primary in NDC, then I have a plot of land to sell to you in the middle of the Atlantic.”
He said he won across all eight local government areas and has the results in his possession.
He added that the NDC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) was due to meet on Wednesday to ratify primary outcomes.
“I won the primaries of the NDC total, as in all eight local government areas.”
Why He Left APC And Policy Position
Omo-Agege told viewers he did not abandon the APC; he said the APC abandoned him and some 240,000 supporters in Delta State.
“I never left the APC; the APC left me and left my over 240,000 supporters in Delta State.”
He defended certain economic policies introduced under President Tinubu — including fuel subsidy removal and naira flotation — saying he supported them then and still supports them now.
“I supported them under President Bola Tinubu and I continue to support it.”
He said he believes those policies may deliver better outcomes under the NDC and Peter Obi because Obi commands greater public trust.
Omo-Agege also accused supporters of Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of spreading false rumours about his primary result out of fear of his political strength.
“Sheriff’s e-rat are afraid of me and they are scared of what I will do to them at the elections.”
Omo-Agege said he will wait for the NDC to formally announce and ratify primary results at the NEC meeting.
He also reaffirmed that he is fully aligned with the NDC’s ticket and will mobilise for the party ahead of 2027.
