Nigerian street-pop star Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has issued a bold challenge to world heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua. The singer stated he is ready to defeat the champion if offered a ₦1 billion purse.

This development follows Portable’s first loss in the celebrity boxing arena. He faced content creator Carter Efe on Friday at the Chaos in the Ring 4 event held at Balmoral Hall, Victoria Island.

“For ₦1 billion, I’ll take you down,” the singer declared during a public face-off. Portable described himself as the true face of Nigerian boxing despite the recent setback.

Claims of Robbery After Carter Efe Defeat

Judges at the Lagos event awarded a unanimous decision victory to Carter Efe after a largely one-sided contest. Consequently, Portable alleged that his victory was stolen by the match officials.

Furthermore, the singer complained about the physical disadvantage he faced during the bout. He alleged that the pairing was unfair due to the height difference between the competitors.

“I was robbed. Carter Efe was wrestling while I was throwing punches. He was strangling with his long hands and height,” Portable alleged on his Instagram story on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Zazzu crooner is also demanding ₦200 million in “stream money” from the event organisers. He threatened to cause trouble if the payment is not settled immediately.

“I threw him many punches. Why didn’t you people count them? Any blow that I threw at him ought to count,” he added while venting his frustration.

Anthony Joshua’s Road to Recovery

The challenge comes at a sensitive time for Anthony Joshua. The British-Nigerian boxer has only recently fully recovered from a traumatic car accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in late 2025.

The crash claimed the lives of his close associates, Sina Ghami and Kevin “Lateef” Ayodele. Joshua sustained minor injuries but was hospitalized for observation.

Joshua has since returned to training and has a confirmed fight scheduled for July 25, 2026, in Riyadh. He is expected to face Kristian Prenga before a potential mega-fight with Tyson Fury.

“It’s no secret I’ve taken some time to consolidate and rebuild to be ready for stepping back into the ring,” Joshua stated in a recent Matchroom Boxing release.

Portable, however, remains undeterred by the professional gap. He previously recorded wins against actor Charles Okocha and social media personality Speed Darlington in similar exhibition matches.

Furthermore, the singer alleged that prominent figures like E-Money had promised him ₦50 million for his participation. It remains unclear if Joshua’s camp will acknowledge the ₦1 billion challenge.

Do you think on hearing this challenge, Anthony Joshua will feel amused or be rattled by it. And will the professional boxing world pay any attention to a street-pop artist’s ₦1 billion demand for a heavyweight showdown? Let’s know your thoughts.
