US President Donald Trump issued a final ultimatum to Iran on Monday, April 6, 2026, regarding the closure of the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The President threatened that the entire Iranian civilization could face total destruction if Tehran fails to act by 8pm Eastern Time on Tuesday.
This specific deadline equates to 1.00 am West Africa Time on Wednesday. Furthermore, the threat follows days of escalating military posturing in the Persian Gulf.
“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” Trump wrote in a social media post earlier today.
“I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” he added while discussing the potential for large-scale military action.
The United States possess a huge stockpile of nuclear weapons, the only mass device that could threaten a whole civilization.
The Strait of Hormuz is a vital shipping lane. Approximately 20% of the world’s liquid petroleum passes through this narrow waterway every single day.
Reports from IRNA alleged that two people died during a strike on a bridge in Kashan city on Monday evening.
Furthermore, three other civilians were injured during the infrastructure strikes. Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces advised residents to avoid all rail transport.
US Military Targets Key Iranian Oil Hub
US forces have reportedly struck Kharg Island. This location serves as a critical terminal for nearly all of Iran’s crude oil exports.
The island is located in the Persian Gulf. It handles approximately 90% of the nation’s energy shipments to global markets.
Trump suggested that a transition in leadership could provide a way to avoid further conflict. He alleged that smarter minds must now prevail in Tehran.
“However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail,” Trump alleged on Truth Social.
“Maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?” the President added in the same social media update.
Consequently, the global oil market is reacting with extreme volatility. If supplies remain blocked, analysts allege fuel prices in Nigeria could spike above ₦1,500.
The ultimatum follows a 47-year history of tension. This friction began with the 1979 revolution and has evolved through decades of sanctions and proxy wars.
Tehran has rejected all calls for a temporary ceasefire. Instead, they insist on a permanent end to all hostilities in the region before negotiations begin.
Infrastructure Damage Reported Across Iranian Cities
Beyond the fatalities in Kashan, the US President threatened to hit more power plants if the Strait remains closed to international vessels.
“47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end,” Trump wrote while addressing the long-standing conflict.
“We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World,” he alleged.
Furthermore, the deployment of naval assets near the Persian Gulf suggests that the US is prepared for a sustained campaign if compliance is not met.
Military sources alleged that bridges and railway infrastructure are primary targets. This strategy intends to cripple internal transport and troop movements.
“We will find out tonight,” the President reiterated.
Nigeria, which relies on global markets for refined petrol, could see transport costs rise by 50% if global supply drops.
The US administration alleged that they are seeking “revolutionarily” decisive action to end the standoff once and for all.
Meanwhile, Iranian state media reports that local emergency services are on high alert. Consequently, the world remains on edge as the 8pm deadline approaches.
“Maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen,” Trump concluded.
