The newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Yesiro Karamo, has died just hours before his inauguration.
Yesiro was elected alongside other executives led by APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi during the party’s congress on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
His inauguration was scheduled to take place at the Lagos APC Secretariat on Thursday.
Publicity Secretary of Lagos APC, Seye Oladejo, confirmed the development in a statement.
“The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) received with profound shock and deep sorrow the news of the sudden demise of our newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro,” the statement read.
Oladejo described Yesiro’s death as a painful loss to the party. “Yesiro’s passing is a tragic loss at a time when his energy, commitment, and passion for progressive politics were most needed,” he said.
He added that Yesiro embodied loyalty and dedication, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues and members.
“Though his tenure was tragically cut short, his enthusiasm, humility, and readiness to serve will not be forgotten,” Oladejo noted.
The statement further described him as a vibrant party man whose contributions to the growth and stability of the APC in Lagos State will be remembered.
“The Lagos APC stands united in mourning this painful departure. Hon. Karamo Yesiro will be remembered for his service, commitment, and belief in the progressive cause,” it concluded.
