Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited completed Nigeria’s largest divestment deal last March, acquiring Shell’s stake in the Shell Petroleum Development Company Joint Venture and retaining operatorship.
The company now runs Nigeria’s biggest upstream JV, working alongside international oil firms including TotalEnergies and Agip.
Within six months, Renaissance boosted production by 40%, a rare achievement without new facilities.
It also secured international safety affiliation with the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers, a record accomplishment for a Nigerian operator.
The company has positioned itself as Africa’s leading independent energy firm. It activated its continental brand at African Energy Week in Cape Town and now holds the largest upstream footprint among Nigerian independents.
Renaissance has received multiple awards in less than 10 months from the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists, and BusinessDay.
It has also earned commendations from NNPC Limited and federal ministers for consistent production growth.
The company says its ambition is to become Africa’s foremost energy provider, driving energy security and industrialisation through sustainable practices.
These achievements have led to Renaissance being named Company of the Year 2025.
