Brooklyn Peltz Beckham has publicly declared that he does not wish to reconcile with his parents, former football star David Beckham and fashion designer Victoria Beckham, confirming long-standing rumours of a family breakdown.
In a statement shared on Instagram on Monday, Brooklyn accused his parents of trying to “ruin” his marriage to American actress and heiress Nicola Peltz, daughter of billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and former model Claudia Heffner Peltz.
“For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family,” he wrote. “They have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship with my wife since before our wedding in 2022.”
Allegations Against Victoria Beckham
Brooklyn detailed several incidents that he said deepened the rift. He claimed his mother cancelled plans to design Nicola’s wedding dress at the last minute, forcing her to urgently seek an alternative.
Nicola eventually wore a Valentino haute couture gown, described by her stylist as the “ultimate couture experience.”
He further alleged that Victoria called him “evil” after he and Nicola seated his nanny and her grandmother together at the wedding, saying both women had lost their husbands.
Brooklyn also accused his mother of hijacking his first dance with Nicola. “I was called to the stage where my first dance with my wife was supposed to happen. Instead my mum was waiting to dance with me,” he wrote.
Strained Relationship with David Beckham
Brooklyn said attempts to reconnect with his father also failed. He claimed that during a trip to London for David’s birthday, he and Nicola were left waiting in their hotel room for days.
According to him, David only agreed to meet under the condition that Nicola was not invited and later refused to see him at all when visiting Los Angeles.
“My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one,” Brooklyn added.
Addressing rumours that Nicola controls him, Brooklyn dismissed the claims. “The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life,” he said.
He added that stepping away from his family has brought him peace. “I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared.”
