42 Nigerians Deported from Ghana Over Prostitution, Fraud

At least 42 Nigerians have been deported from Ghana’s Ashanti Region following court rulings on alleged prostitution, fraud, and other related offences.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, disclosed the development in a Facebook post on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

He noted that other foreign nationals deported included 13 Cameroonians, three Ivorians, three Burkinabe, and seven Beninese, bringing the total number of African nationals affected to 68.

“A total of 42 Nigerians, 13 Cameroonians, 3 Ivorians, 3 Burkinabe nationals, and 7 Benin nationals have been deported from the Ashanti Region to their respective countries following various court rulings involving Q-Net, prostitution, and other criminal activities. I commend the Ghana Immigration Service for its professionalism, diligence, and firm commitment to enforcing our immigration laws, while upholding due process and human dignity. Their collaboration with the courts and other security agencies continues to strengthen public safety, protect vulnerable persons, and preserve law and order in the region,” Amoakohene stated.

The deportation comes amid increasing reports of heightened scrutiny and arrests of Nigerians overseas.

In late November, more than 50 Nigerians were arrested in India during one of the country’s largest coordinated crackdowns on a transnational narcotics network.

According to Indian news agency NDTV, the operation was led by the Delhi Police in collaboration with the Telangana Police’s EAGLE unit.

Months of intelligence gathering culminated in simultaneous raids across Delhi, enabling authorities to dismantle key layers of a cartel involved in trafficking methamphetamine and cocaine across India.

The twin developments highlight growing challenges for Nigerians abroad, as host countries intensify enforcement against criminal networks and immigration violations.
