Otti Presents ₦1.016 Trillion “Budget of Acceleration” for 2026

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, laid before the State House of Assembly a ₦1.016 trillion Appropriation Bill for the 2026 fiscal year, describing it as a financial blueprint designed to accelerate development and unlock new possibilities for residents.

The proposal, tagged “Budget of Acceleration and New Possibilities”, represents a 13 percent increase from the 2025 budget.

Otti said the plan reflects his administration’s determination to consolidate reforms and deliver a “New Abia” built on infrastructure, innovation, security, and human capital development.

“We are not just planning for the next fiscal year; we are building the future,” he declared.

Capital-Driven Growth

The governor explained that ₦811.8 billion — 80 percent of the total budget — is earmarked for capital expenditure, targeting infrastructure, education, healthcare, energy, and economic expansion.

Recurrent spending will take ₦204.4 billion, or 20 percent.

Otti emphasized that the budget framework is designed to accelerate growth across all sectors, while maintaining fiscal discipline.

He expressed gratitude to the Assembly for its collaboration since the inception of his administration, noting that governance in Abia has remained focused on transformational reforms rather than politics.

The governor’s presentation comes at a time when several states are unveiling record budgets for 2026, underscoring a nationwide push for capital‑heavy spending.

Otti’s emphasis on infrastructure and human capital aligns with his oft stated vision of turning Abia into a competitive hub in the South‑East.
