The Nigerian Army has published the list of shortlisted candidates for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSC) Course 49/2026.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Military Secretary (Army) on Monday, confirming that the full list of successful applicants is now available on the Army’s recruitment portal at recruitment.army.mil.ng.

According to the statement, all shortlisted candidates are expected to report to the Nigerian Defence Academy, Ribadu Campus (Old Site), Kaduna State, on December 1, 2025. The Army advised that candidates should arrive in Kaduna on November 30, adding that they must report to the Selection Board venue between 6am and 11am on December 1.

The statement warned that any candidate who arrives after 11am on the reporting day would be automatically disqualified.

Strict Guidelines for Selection Exercise

Shortlisted candidates are required to present original and photocopies of all academic and professional certificates, including NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, valid birth certificate, certificate of state of origin, BVN printout, NIN slip, and completed forms from the SSCC portal.

The Army stressed that any alteration to documents would render them invalid.

Candidates must also arrive with prescribed personal items such as blue shorts, white T‑shirts, white canvas shoes, writing materials, toiletries, beddings, full‑size colored photographs, and the appropriate WAEC or NECO scratch cards.

In addition, parents or guardians must provide a duly signed Letter of Consent issued by a recognized court of law, clearly stating they will not request compensation for injuries or death sustained during the exercise.

The Army explained that the selection exercise will involve comprehensive document verification, physical fitness tests, medical examinations, academic assessments, and an oral interview.

Candidates will be accommodated and fed throughout the duration of the exercise but must be responsible for their own transportation.

The use of private vehicles and receiving visitors will not be allowed.

The Army emphasised that a high level of discipline would be required throughout the selection process, warning that any candidate who violates instructions will be disqualified.

It added that, because of the military nature of the selection exercise, the Nigerian Army would not be liable for any injuries or deaths that may occur during the process.

The Army urged candidates to adhere strictly to the guidelines to avoid disqualification.
