The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed that an aircraft operated by Enugu Air experienced a fault with its nose‑landing gear while arriving at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport from Lagos.
The incident occurred at about 19:10 hrs on Thursday during landing on runway eight. The aircraft, with registration number SN‑BZN, became immobile on the runway shortly after touchdown.
FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, said: “Emergency response teams were immediately mobilised and were on scene to ensure the safety of occupants and to secure the aerodrome.”
He explained that FAAN’s airport emergency resources, including fire tenders and medical standby, were deployed as standard procedure.
“All passengers and crew were safely disembarked and evacuated to the terminal, using the Apron buses. Evacuation was completed without injury and concluded at 19:48 hrs,” the statement added.
FAAN said its aerodrome rescue and firefighting services (ARFFS) were in position while the aircraft and airside were secured.
The agency stressed that its top priority remains the safety of passengers, crew, and other airport users. It promised to provide public updates as soon as authoritative information becomes available.
The incident is the first major technical fault reported in the four months this state‑owned airline has been in operation.
