Dr Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has formally received over 100 members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State.
The reception took place during the inauguration of the Renewed Hope Partners (RHP) in Obingwa Local Government Area, where a large crowd of supporters had gathered to witness the political shift.
Kalu commended the defectors, saying their decision to join the APC and align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda “demonstrates growing confidence in the party’s leadership and development vision for the South-East.”
The defectors, led by former PDP State Secretary Ibe Nwadioha, pledged their loyalty to President Tinubu, Dr Kalu, and the APC. “Our defection signifies a major political shift in the area,” Nwadioha said.
Meanwhile, APC stakeholders in Obingwa Local Government Area honoured Dr Kalu for his contributions to the socio-economic development of the South-East, recognising his efforts to drive growth and political stability in the region.
