Presidential Aide Rules Out US Military Action During a South African TV Interview

Dr Daniel Bwala, Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, told South Africa’s SABC on Monday that Nigeria is not a hostile country warranting US military intervention.

He described claims of a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria as a “hoax by a separatist group” aimed at creating discord.

On questions about convincing US President Donald Trump, Bwala said, “Trump is open to dialogue” and noted the importance of protocol in diplomatic engagements.

When asked about credible data showing no targeted killings, he said, “there’s no extraordinary data, all data is already out in the open space.”

He dismissed concerns over potential unilateral military action, explaining, “there’s never going to be a case of military intervention in Nigeria because we know the body language and tactics of President Trump.”

On whether a White House visit would help ease tensions, Bwala cited South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa’s visit to Trump earlier in the year as a precedent.

Regarding a potential meeting between Tinubu and Trump, he said the government reserves comment, stressing respect for diplomatic protocol.
