More than eight million Nigerians have completed their online registration in the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, according to new data released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
INEC’s weekly update showed that as of October 19, 2025, a total of 8,003,196 online registrations had been recorded.
The data covers the ninth week of the exercise, which runs nationwide except in Anambra State, where it remains suspended due to the upcoming November 8 governorship election.
Women slightly outnumber men among registrants, with 4,190,890 female voters (52.37%) compared to 3,812,306 males (47.63%).
Youths Dominate Registrations
Young Nigerians aged 18–34 continue to dominate the CVR exercise, accounting for 5,533,514 entries—roughly 69% of all registrations. Middle-aged voters between 35–49 years contributed 1,678,212 (20.97%), while those aged 50–69 made up 704,866 (8.81%).
Students led the occupational categories with 2,018,967 registrants (25.23%), followed by business professionals at 1,659,690 (20.74%). Persons with disabilities (PWDs) also showed increased participation, accounting for 182,718 (2.29%) of all registrants.
Imo State recorded the highest number of online pre-registrations at 826,850 (10.32%), followed by Lagos with 604,619 (7.56%) and Ogun with 510,062 (6.37%). Yobe State ranked lowest, registering just 2,714 voters (0.03%).
Beyond online sign-ups, INEC noted that 1,710,450 Nigerians have completed both online and physical biometric registration. Out of this figure, 956,566 finalized their registration online, while 753,884 completed it at physical centers.
Women and Youth Still Ahead in Completed Registrations
Among completed registrations, youth participation remains dominant, with 1,261,288 individuals aged 18–34 representing 73.74% of the total. Women lead again with 945,305 (55.27%), while men account for 765,145 (44.73%).
Students make up the majority at 566,391 (33.11%), followed by businesspersons (316,295 or 18.49%) and housewives (259,932 or 15.28%). PWDs contributed 24,207 (1.41%) to completed registrations.
Osun tops the list of completed registrations with 151,593, followed by the Federal Capital Territory (106,855), Kano (96,280), Imo (90,469), Lagos (85,831), and Rivers (28,507).
INEC stated that the figures are still provisional pending final validation through its Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS), which will eliminate duplicates and ensure data integrity.
