Dunukofia Donates ₦611m to Gov. Soludo’s Re-election Campaign

In a day of trite politics, the people of Dunukofia Local Government in Anambra State gathered in their thousands at Ukpo on Friday to welcome Governor Chukwuma Soludo, his wife, Dr Nonye, and Deputy Governor Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim.

The highlight of the event was the announcement that the Dunukofia people had donated a massive ₦611,638,700 to Governor Soludo’s re-election campaign—one of the largest community-led political contributions in recent times.

The gesture drew cheers and songs of support across the field.

“I appreciate ndị Dunukofia,” Soludo said warmly, acknowledging their loyalty since his 2021 victory. “We won resoundingly in Dunukofia then, and I’m told we’ll win all wards and polling units again.”

The governor reflected on his administration’s progress, describing the past three and a half years as “a period of foundation building.”

He cited major gains in education, noting that “public schools were in deplorable condition when we came, but today, that is no longer the case.”

The rally also featured the inauguration of the new Dunukofia legislative building, which Soludo called a symbol of effective local governance.

“Our local government system is working in Anambra,” he said. “I appreciate Dunukofia for this beautiful edifice.”

Community leaders and residents took turns to express their admiration. Chief Walter Eziri, President General of Ukpo, praised Soludo’s developmental focus.

Chinenye Obika spoke for traders, while Joseph Ime represented beneficiaries of the One Youth, Two Skills initiative.

Digital teacher Arinze Egebe and parent Onyekachukwu Ezika commended the governor’s free education policy, calling it “a blessing to struggling families.”

Each speaker credited Soludo’s leadership for tangible improvements in their daily lives. “He has restored our confidence in government,” one trader said.

The Anambra election is slated for Saturday, November 8, 2025. Then it will be seen if all the drumbeats and declarations of political loyalty will translate into another sweeping victory at the polls for the governor. What is your view?
