Chelsea Crush Forest 3–0 as Maresca’s Young Guns Shine Bright

Chelsea delivered a commanding 3–0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in Saturday’s English Premier League match, with a burst of second-half brilliance sealing the win.

The first half dragged with few chances on either side. Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi fired Forest’s best effort wide, while Chelsea’s Andrey Santos and Pedro Neto both tested the home defence without success.

The crowd waited for a spark—and Enzo Maresca provided it.

The Chelsea manager unleashed Marc Guiu, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, and Moisés Caicedo from the bench, a decision that transformed the match.

In the 49th minute, teenager Josh Acheampong rose to meet Neto’s teasing cross, nodding home with confidence.

Just three minutes later, captain Reece James sliced open Forest’s backline with a neat through ball to Neto, who calmly slotted past the keeper for 2–0.

Forest tried to respond. Neco Williams skied a golden chance from six yards, and Igor Jesus rattled the crossbar with a thunderous strike. But Chelsea held their shape and rhythm, turning possession into total control.

Reece James, already brilliant in defence, crowned his afternoon with a crisp finish in the 84th minute—his first goal of the season—to make it 3–0.

The only blemish came when Malo Gusto was dismissed for a second yellow card late on, though it barely dented Chelsea’s mood. “We were patient, disciplined, and clinical when it mattered,” Maresca told reporters afterward.

The result extends Chelsea’s unbeaten run and signals that Maresca’s youthful side may finally be finding their rhythm in the Premier League.
