NiDCOM Urge Nigerians Abroad to Invest as Diaspora Deals Hit ₦673m

The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has urged Nigerians living abroad and at home to take advantage of new investment opportunities through the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS), following ₦673 million worth of deals recorded in 2024.

Speaking at a joint world press conference ahead of the 2025 summit scheduled for November 11–13 in Abuja, Dabiri-Erewa said the annual event has grown into a credible platform for channelling “direct, impactful investments” from the Nigerian diaspora into the national economy.

The theme for this year’s edition is “Fast Tracking Regional & National Development By Mobilising Diaspora Investment.”

Dabiri-Erewa noted that the 2024 edition attracted over 1,500 participants, including 236 investors and 1,197 business owners, and resulted in 56 investment deals valued at ₦673 million.

The creative sector led with 39 deals, while infrastructure, real estate, agribusiness, and energy also recorded significant results.

She added that several state governments, including Ondo, Nasarawa, and Borno, have used the summit to attract investors and advance key development projects — such as the Ondo Port initiative, which later received federal approval.

Dabiri-Erewa emphasised that the NDIS has evolved from a simple conference into a catalyst for enterprise, job creation, and youth empowerment, connecting Nigeria’s vast talent base with the nation’s development priorities.

Also speaking, the Chairperson of the Nigeria Diaspora Summit Initiative (NDSI), Badewa Adejugbe-Williams, said the event continues to serve as a “vital bridge” that unlocks the diaspora’s potential for national growth.

She noted that this year’s theme aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to diversify the economy and promote inclusive, sustainable development.

Adejugbe-Williams encouraged sponsors, investors, and media partners to join the initiative and help amplify the summit’s message of shared prosperity.
