The Defence Headquarters has announced plans for a major route march across the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Friday, 10 October 2025, involving the Armed Forces and other security agencies.

According to Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, the exercise will begin at 5 a.m. from the Aguiyi Ironsi Cantonment football field. The marching teams will move through Mambilla Barracks and Niger Barracks before returning to the cantonment.

Gusau said the event is a routine fitness and morale-building exercise aimed at promoting teamwork, physical readiness, and unity among personnel of the Armed Forces and sister agencies.

Residents and motorists, especially within the Asokoro–AYA corridor, have been advised to use alternative routes. Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps and other traffic management agencies will be stationed to control movement and ensure safety.

The Defence Headquarters appealed for public understanding and apologized for any inconvenience the temporary diversions may cause.

Could this route march also serve as a subtle show of strength amid recent security incidents in the capital? Or is it simply routine discipline at work? What do you think?
