NMA Yet to Conclude Medical Evaluation on Nnamdi Kanu’s Health

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has yet to conclude its investigation into the health condition of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

This was revealed in court on Wednesday during the continuation of Kanu’s terrorism trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Justice James Omotosho had on September 26 directed the NMA President to assemble a panel of medical experts to assess Kanu’s physical and mental fitness to continue standing trial.

However, the prosecution counsel, Suraj Sa’ada (SAN), informed the court that the medical panel was still carrying out its evaluation and had not yet completed its report.

He urged the court to grant the NMA team more time to “conduct a thorough investigation and submit its findings.”

Sa’ada requested a one-week extension, which was not opposed by Kanu’s defence counsel, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN).

Following the submissions, Justice Omotosho adjourned the case to October 16 to allow the medical panel complete its assessment and file its report before further proceedings.
