Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar( UNICAL) Prof. Cyril Ndifon accused by students of sexual harassment has been suspended by the institution.
The school said the professor violated extant laws and should step aside until full investigations are concluded.
Students have waited with bated breath for authorities to take action after they made a public protest Monday decrying the don’s alleged sexual harassment of female students.

The suspension letter from the office of the university Vice-Chancellor states, “The Vice-Chancellor has gone through your written representations and is not satisfied with your explanations. She has therefore directed that you should be relieved of your position as Dean, Faculty of Law and placed on suspension while the matter is referred to a panel that will be set-up to investigate these allegations”.
The letter says the suspension takes immediate effect, today Thursday, August 17, 2023.
Ndifon was ordered to surrender all university property in his possession and vacate his office immediately.
”You are to stay away from the University premises except while responding to an invitation from the panel investigating these allegations“, the letter stated.
But this is not the first of Prof. Ndifon’s brush with sexual controversy. In 2015, he was accused of rape by a student but managed to return to his job unscathed after a court examination of the facts.
Ndifon, who just won another term as faculty dean claims his ordeal is the handiwork of his faculty opponents and detractors.
Some female students of the faculty allege he subjects them to harassment in return for academic favours. One of the placards carried by the students during the protest read, “Prof Ndifon, let the girls with big breasts breathe. Stop suffocating us”.
