FIFA Confirms U-20 World Cup Round of 16 Fixtures — Nigeria to Face Argentina

The Round of 16 fixtures for the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup have now been confirmed after an intense end to the group stage matches on Monday morning.

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles sealed their place in the knockout phase after battling to a 1–1 draw with Colombia. The result pushed them to four points from three matches — just enough to qualify as one of the best third-placed teams.

“We showed strong spirit and discipline,” coach Aliyu Zubairu said after the match. “Now our focus is on Argentina. Every game from here is a final.”

Flying Eagles Set for Argentina Clash

Nigeria will now face host nation Argentina, one of the tournament favourites, in what promises to be a thrilling showdown.

Argentina topped their group with a perfect record and boast an attack that has scored eight goals in three games.

Football analysts say the Flying Eagles must tighten their defence and stay sharp on counter-attacks to stand a chance.

Their meeting brings back memories of their senior counterparts’ famous clashes with Argentina at previous FIFA World Cups.

Elsewhere, Norway booked their ticket after drawing 1–1 with Saudi Arabia, finishing second in their group.
