The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja Police Command has dismissed claims that officers have been ordered to strip pockets from their uniforms.

The clarification came on Tuesday, September 23, after viral reports suggested such a directive had been issued by police authorities.

In a statement, spokesperson of the command, SP Josephine Adeh, described the report as “entirely baseless”.

She stressed that “there has been no such directive from the Office of the Inspector General of Police.”

Adeh added that the FCT Police remain focused on protecting lives and property, not on unnecessary distractions.

“We urge members of the public to verify information from credible sources before circulating it further,” she said.

The statement also urged residents to follow only official communication channels for authentic updates from the police.

Adeh cautioned social media users against spreading false claims that could mislead residents and distract security agencies from their duties.

The command assured Abuja residents that law enforcement operations continue without disruption.
