The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, visited the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, at his Bodija residence in Ibadan on Sunday.
Oba Ogunwusi arrived with his entourage in the afternoon and was warmly received by Oba Ladoja. The meeting was filled with smiles, handshakes, and prayers for peace.
Coronation events for the Olubadan-designate begin this week. Oba Ladoja will officially ascend the throne as the 44th Olubadan on Friday, September 26, 2025.
Oba Ladoja, a former Oyo State governor, was chosen after the passing of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin. The late monarch joined his ancestors on July 7, 2025, at the age of 90.
President Bola Tinubu is expected to attend the coronation, alongside governors, ministers, and dignitaries from across Nigeria. Royal fathers from different kingdoms will also join the gathering.
The Oyo State government has announced a massive security plan. Over 2,000 personnel will be deployed to secure Ibadan, as thousands are expected from across Nigeria and beyond.
The Olubadan stool is one of the most respected in Yoruba land. Oba Ladoja’s coronation is set to draw both cultural splendour and political weight.
