Vice President Kashim Shettima has poured glowing tributes on Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as she turns 65 today.
In a heartfelt message, Shettima described her as an “inestimable mother of our great nation.” He added that her birthday was more than numbers, but “a reflection of countless years of brilliant motherhood, exemplary service to nationhood, and the brilliance, compassion, and unwavering support that a First Lady can provide to her husband and an entire nation.”
Shettima praised her devotion to unity and responsibility. “Indeed, when the history of this great nation and in particular President Tinubu’s administration is written, your name will be inscribed in gold, for you have earned it with your passion, good heart, service, sense of decorum, and strength that you have brought to bear on our nation’s development and progress,” he said.
“Your sense of unity and upliftment of humanity is legendary. You have touched millions of lives through your Renewed Hope Initiative, which reverberates across the nation. Thank you for all you do, Your Excellency.”
He also hailed her commitment to women’s empowerment, youth development, education, and support for the needy, calling it “a testament to your enduring legacy.”
“As you celebrate this milestone birthday, we honour your quiet strength, resilience, and devotion to our great nation. Your partnership with President Bola Tinubu has been a beacon of hope for many. You have made a tremendous impact on the lives of Nigerians,” Shettima wrote.
“Here’s wishing you continued good health, joy, peace, and fulfilment. May your years ahead be filled with love, laughter, and celebration. You are not just a First Lady but a symbol of womanhood, strength, and compassion. Happy birthday, Your Excellency.”
APC’s Message
Meanwhile, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) also joined in the celebration. In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party described Oluremi Tinubu as “a devoted Christian, shrewd public servant, philanthropist and astute politician.”
The APC recalled her support for President Tinubu from his pro-democracy struggles to his time as Lagos governor and now as Nigeria’s leader.
“Beyond her role as a loving wife and caring mother, Senator Remi Tinubu has been a steadfast pillar of support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, throughout his remarkable journey of public service. The First Lady has remained an inestimable treasure of support and dependable ally, for which our nation is thankful,” the party said.
The statement noted her impact through initiatives like the Renewed Hope Initiative and the New Era Foundation, which have delivered scholarships, healthcare, women and youth empowerment, and welfare for widows, the elderly, and other vulnerable Nigerians.
The APC leadership, including National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, joined millions of party members to pray for “excellent health, strength, grace and wisdom” for the First Lady in her continued service to the nation.
President Bola Tinubu, family members, and political leaders across Nigeria also sent prayers and warm wishes as the First Lady marked her special day.
