Nine former corps members from Abia State, recently honoured with the Presidential NYSC Award, have been offered automatic employment by Governor Alex Otti.
The announcement came when six of the awardees visited the governor in his office, led by the NYSC State Coordinator, Gladys Adama. Otti directed the Head of Service to issue their appointment letters without delay.
“On behalf of the state government, I am temporarily lifting the embargo on employment to employ the nine of you, except if any are not interested,” the governor declared. He urged them to uphold excellence as they begin their new careers.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Nwogu Chinomso from Obingwa LGA thanked the governor for the gesture. “Your Excellency, you are a true leader. Our prayer is that God will continue to grant you wisdom to guide the affairs of the state,” he said.
Adama noted that the nine awardees were selected from more than 100 candidates across the country. She said only one served in the East, while others were posted to northern states, making Abia proud with their dedication.
The new employees include Nwogu Chinonso, Anyanwụ Promise, Ezieme Francis Uba, Emmanuel Ogbenyealu Ezinne, Abia Chinwendu Grace, Nwafike Esther Chiemela, Dr. Ugwa Obinna Mark, Eke Lawrence Miracle, and James Raphael Chukwuebuka.
Senior government officials attended the event as the governor described the awardees’ recognition as proof that hard work and service still open doors in Nigeria.
