Governor Charles Soludo from Anambra State recently visited President Bola Tinubu, and it’s stirred up some criticism. People think Soludo’s visit shows he’s worried about losing the upcoming governorship elections.
After meeting Tinubu, Soludo said he’s been friends with him for 22 years. He mentioned he’s backing Tinubu for re-election in 2027, as they both support progressive causes.
However, Nicolas Ukachukwu, the APC candidate for Anambra’s governorship election on November 8, 2025, thinks Soludo’s visit was pointless.
Ukachukwu believes Soludo is trying to avoid a defeat and is looking for support. He claims that Tinubu is backing him to win Anambra for the APC.
The APC candidate described Soludo’s actions as desperate, comparing him to “a drowning person,” saying pictures with the President or flashy campaigns will not help the governor in November.
Ukachukwu, through Okechukwu Modebe in Awka, said Soludo’s visit shows he’s anxious. He accused the governor of wasting chances to help the people and now trying to find outside support.
Ukachukwu is hopeful for success in the upcoming elections, especially in the August 16 Senatorial by-election with Azuka Okwuosa as their candidate.
Focus on Cooperation and Growth
At the same time, Tinubu shared what he discussed with Soludo during their meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. They talked about strengthening democracy, boosting security, and pushing economic reforms.
On his official X account, Tinubu called Soludo “a friend of over two decades” and said they both want to see progressive governance.
Tinubu said, “We discussed the bold reforms underway, the need to stay focused, and the importance of tackling insecurity through decisive action and inclusive opportunities for our teeming youth.”
He emphasized that his government is open to working with states focused on human, social, and economic development, adding, “Nigeria’s progress is strongest when we work together.”
Tinubu is committed to achieving sustainable growth, expressing, “We will continue to take a bet on our dear country, Nigeria, to ensure sustainable and shared prosperity for the future.”
