Afrobeats megastar Davido and his wife, Chioma, are tying the knot today in what may be the most lavish Nigerian celebrity wedding in recent years.
The white wedding is taking place at The Havana, Miami, USA, on Sunday, August 10, 2025.
Days before the big day, a private pre-wedding dinner gathered close family members and friends. Videos online showed the couple exchanging warm glances and laughter, radiating joy in each other’s company.
Davido wore a vibrant, multicoloured outfit, while Chioma dazzled in a flowing white gown. Adekunle Gold, Teni, and blogger Tunde Ednut were among the high-profile guests spotted at the dinner.
Missing Faces and Visa Drama
Some expected names were missing. Davido’s close friend Cubana Chief Priest was absent. He explained on Instagram that the United States Embassy denied him a visa.
“Woke up this morning with mixed feelings. I’m happy and I’m still sad at the same time. Sometimes God has a way of making you understand that you are powerless, regardless of all you may think you have,” he wrote.
“Do it for me this time. You can clearly see how disappointed and hurt the world is to see me absent at my best friend’s wedding… Delay is never denial; CP is still hopeful.”
Cubana added that his wife attended in his place: “The largest part of me, my elegant and sophisticated wife, is there to share in this luxurious, blissful experience, so I’m there in body and spirit.”
Reports also suggest Chioma’s parents are absent due to visa issues. Journalist Stella Dimokokorkus alleged their five-year visas were revoked and a temporary ban placed after overstaying in the US during Chioma’s postpartum recovery.
According to her post: “When Chioma’s parents were asked how long they would stay, they said one month. But her mum had to extend her stay to nurse her daughter after childbirth and anemia.”
The Price Tag and a Tattoo of Love
In a playful moment at the pre-wedding party, Davido revealed the wedding’s staggering cost: “We spent $3.7m in cash. You should know what we are doing. It’s crazy.”
The singer also showed a new tattoo of Chioma’s name on his lower abdomen, calling it a permanent symbol of love.
