Trump Targets Gayle King as CBS Faces Turbulent Times

U.S. President Donald Trump has fired fresh shots at CBS anchor Gayle King, declaring her career dead and accusing her of lacking backbone.

“Gayle King’s career is over,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “She should have stayed with her belief in TRUMP. She never had the courage to do so. No talent, no ratings, no strength!!!”

His comments followed a New York Post article questioning King’s future at CBS, citing poor ratings and branding the show “too woke.”

Trump’s attack on King is part of a broader pattern. He previously celebrated the cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s Late Show, calling it a result of “pure lack of talent.”

CBS had cited high production costs, but critics pointed to the timing—just days before the FCC approved the $8 billion Skydance-Paramount merger, which Trump’s administration had power to block.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr praised Skydance’s pledge to remove DEI policies and appoint an ombudsman to monitor bias at CBS News.

“Americans no longer trust the legacy national news media to report fully, accurately, and fairly,” Carr said.

Gayle King’s contract reportedly ends in May 2026. Sources say CBS may not renew it, despite her status as one of the network’s biggest stars.

Media Personalities in Trump’s Crosshairs

Trump has also taken aim at Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel, calling them “less talented” and “very insecure.” He predicted they would be “next on the chopping block.”

King, meanwhile, remains on air. But insiders say CBS staff are divided. Some admire her boldness, while others feel her progressive stance has alienated viewers.

“Anytime you have a big name, they are going to be a target,” one CBS employee said.

Do you think Trump’s comments are influencing media decisions—or is CBS simply chasing ratings?
