Former US Vice President Kamala Harris is set to release a new memoir titled 107 Days, offering a candid look into her brief 2024 presidential campaign against President Donald Trump.
The book, published by Simon & Schuster, will hit shelves on September 23. Harris described the memoir as “a behind-the-scenes account” written with “candor and reflection.”
“Just over a year ago, I launched my campaign for president of the United States, 107 days — traveling the country, fighting for our future — the shortest presidential campaign in modern history,” Harris said in a video shared on social media.
Harris became the Democratic nominee after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race in July 2024, following concerns about his cognitive health. Her campaign lasted just over three months before she lost to Trump in the November election.
A Short Campaign, A Long Reflection
The memoir promises “surprising and revealing insights” into the whirlwind campaign, including Harris’s reflections on stepping into the race, navigating party dynamics, and confronting the emotional weight of being the first Black and South Asian woman to lead a major party ticket.
Harris has ruled out a run for California governor in 2026 but hinted at future ambitions. “Sometimes, the fight takes a while,” she said, fueling speculation about a possible 2028 presidential bid.
She made her first major public appearance since the election on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where she discussed the book and her decision to step away from traditional politics. “I just, for now, I don’t want to go back in the system. I think it’s broken,” Harris told Colbert.
The show itself may be cancelled by CBS, which cited financial reasons. However, critics believe the decision was politically motivated, especially after CBS’s parent company, Paramount, paid a $16 million settlement to Trump over a segment involving Harris on 60 Minutes, just before finalizing an $8 billion merger with Skydance Media.
Trump, when asked about Harris’s book, said “She can’t talk. She can’t do an interview. I thought it was a very strange campaign we had.” He added sarcastically, “Yeah, I think I’m going to buy it. I’d love to see it.”
Meanwhile, former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has also announced her own memoir, Independent, set for release in October. Jean-Pierre has left the Democratic Party, accusing it of betraying Biden during his final campaign months.
