Adamawa Increases NYSC Allowance to ₦107,000 Monthly

National Youth Corps Service (NYSC) members posted to Adamawa State now have more reasons to smile.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved a generous ₦30,000 monthly allowance to the usual ₦77,000 they receive. This brings the total monthly allowance for NYSC members serving in the state to a remarkable ₦107,000.

In practical terms, that’s ₦1.3 million per year—a significant boost from what corpers earn in other parts of Nigeria.

Fintiri’s gesture has sparked admiration across the country. Many see this as a bold investment in youth and national service. One online user stated: “Nobody has done this in Nigeria.”

Another echoed: “Fintiri dey for us. Other governors, abeg borrow sense.”

The announcement comes at a time when inflation and rising living costs have made survival tough for many young Nigerians.

In contrast to other states where corps members struggle to survive on meagre stipends, Adamawa now stands out as a model of support and goodwill.

A Rare Move That Sets a National Example

The gesture is seen as both generous and strategic. By increasing corps members’ pay, Fintiri is also encouraging more NYSC participants to consider Adamawa a favourable place to serve and possibly settle.

Observers say it will boost local morale, increase productivity among corpers, and even reduce petty crimes caused by hardship.

The news quickly gained traction on social media. Many Nigerians are asking why other governors have not taken similar steps.

Would you now prefer to serve in Adamawa if you had the choice?
